Let’s make a plan for your health!

Soon it will be dark at 4:30 and we will be praying for a dry Halloween.  We are quickly approaching year-end. Did you meet your goals for the year? Do you remember your new year’s resolutions?

So many of us vow to lose weight, eat healthier and commit to exercising. At StrenghtTime we are part of the solution and we will do all we can to help you. Weight training will require your body to burn more calories to support your stronger muscles 24/7. It’s the rest of your week that we at StrengthTime can’t control. We encourage you to make a plan. Planning is the key to success.

Management thinker Peter Drucker said, “You can’t manage what you can’t measure.” Meaning success must be defined and tracked, or you won’t know if you are truly successful. At StrengthTime, your trainer can follow your progress as you slowly increase your weight on each machine. But sharing that increase with you is not as crucial as you showing up for your workout. In fact, most trainers don’t show clients their weight increases over time because that’s just not the point. The point is showing up week after week with a commitment to build strength. That is what is truly measured.

Measuring our diet is quite a bit tougher. You probably don’t have a professional food guru coaching you on each meal you eat. It would be an interesting concept, but seriously impractical. So instead, to meet your resolutions you may have selected a food program back in January to encourage you to eat healthily and shed a few pounds. Hopefully, your plan is going great, and you have reached your new year’s goals! You may be ready to reward yourself with Snickers and Skittles from the Halloween basket.

But, if your healthy eating plan hasn’t gone as well as you hoped, there is still time to re-focus and get on board with a program. At the very least, it will position you to start 2018 off with measurable goals. There is much controversy over what diet program works best. Choosing any reasonable plan is a positive start, and you will find cheerleaders of every option out there.
